DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, organised the much-awaited “Run for DAV” Marathon on Sunday, reflecting its continued commitment to promoting health, fitness, and sportsmanship among students.
The 5-kilometer marathon, held exclusively for students of Classes IX to XII, began from the DAVCPS Main Building at Khaliyar, passed through key landmarks of the town, and concluded at Bhuli. Students, teachers, and staff members participated enthusiastically, creating an atmosphere filled with energy and motivation along the route.
The event was graced by Mr. Sachin Hiremath (IPS), Additional Superintendent of Police, Mandi District, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his motivating address, Mr. Hiremath urged students to make physical fitness a regular part of their lives, emphasizing the importance of discipline, perseverance, and determination.
In the boys’ category, Atharv (XII-C) clinched the first position, followed by Sujal Sharma (XI-B) and Tanish Thakur (IX-C) in second and third place, respectively. In the girls’ category, Mehak (X-B) secured the top spot, with Agriya (IX-D) and Jagriti (IX-C) finishing second and third.
The winners received cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal K. S. Guleria lauded the efforts of all participants, describing the event as a celebration of youthful energy and team spirit. “It is heartening to see our students participate with such enthusiasm and determination. Events like these not only encourage physical fitness but also nurture discipline, unity, and a sense of purpose,” he remarked.
The marathon concluded on a vibrant note, reinforcing DAV’s vision of holistic education that nurtures both the mind and body. The event served as a reminder that true education extends beyond classrooms — embracing health, teamwork, and perseverance as essential values for life.
