Students sing patriotic songs, community leaders, citizens pay floral tribute at Gandhi Chowk

A heartfelt tribute was paid to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 156th birth anniversary at the statue located at Gandhi Chowk in Dalhousie in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The event witnessed participation from students, local officials, social workers, educators and members of the community.
Students from Dalhousie Public School and Dalhousie Hill Top School enriched the atmosphere with soul-stirring patriotic songs, resonating with Gandhian spirit and national pride.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Dalhousie SDM Anil Bhardwaj, who served as the chief guest, and Dr Captain GS Dhillon, Director of Dalhousie Public School. Both offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, marking the occasion with solemn respect.
Prominent social figures including activist Sneh Lata, Lady Shakti Club members Raj Kohli and Monika Pushp, and general secretary of Sardar Ajit Singh Yadgaar Sabha, Virendra Thakur, also participated. Dalhousie Treasury Officer Manish Thakur, senior citizen Rajendra Rai and Municipal Council staff Ramesh Kumar and Sushil Kumar were also present.
Teachers Rajesh Roy, Vinay Kumar and Rana, along with many local residents, joined the tribute to honour Gandhi’s ideals.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Anil Bhardwaj urged the youth to draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s life. “By adopting Gandhiji’s values of truth, non-violence and simplicity, we can bring about the change our society needs,” he said.
He also remembered former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, calling his slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” more relevant than ever in today’s times. The SDM extended warm Dussehra greetings to everyone, emphasising the festival’s message of victory of good over evil.
