Dharamshala: As the election campaign heats up, political tactics are becoming more theatrical. At a press conference on Saturday, Congress in-charge RS Bali accused BJP candidate Sudhir Sharma of possessing a watch like the one used by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor in the film “Mr. India.” Bali quipped, “He vanishes post elections and appears during elections.”

Bali, a prominent youth figure in state politics and holding a cabinet rank with the chairmanship of the tourism department, has a long-standing rivalry with Sharma. This accusation marks a strategic move by Congress to invigorate their campaign and test Bali’s influence.

The Congress campaign had been struggling to gain traction, but Bali’s entrance might change the dynamics in this constituency. He emphasized the need for a more accessible representative for Dharamshala, criticizing Sharma’s aloofness. “Dharamshala needs an MLA whose doors are always open for the people, not a leader who keeps his door closed,” Bali asserted.

During the press conference, Bali introduced all the Congress block presidents, alleging that Sharma frequently changes them to keep both the party and the electorate in a state of confusion. “Sudhir Sharma has turned the position of president into a revolving door,” Bali claimed.

With these bold statements, the Congress party aims to revitalize its campaign and draw clear contrasts with their BJP rivals as the election draws near.
