Dharamshala: The annual income of Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma has witnessed an increase of about 50 per cent over the past five years, totalling around ₹1 crore.
Sharma, a four-term Rajya Sabha MP who is contesting the parliamentary elections on the Congress ticket from Kangra, disclosed in his election affidavit that his yearly income for the financial year 2021-22 amounted to ₹1,39,17,330. Comparatively, his income in previous years remained below the ₹50 lakh mark annually, with earnings totaling ₹45,46,980 in 2020-21.
According to Sharma’s declaration, he owns assets worth around ₹17 crore. His cash in hand stands at ₹70,000, while his movable assets are valued at over ₹11 crore. The total value of movable assets listed amounts to ₹11,38,90,425. Additionally, Sharma possesses immovable assets valued at ₹5,30,00,000.
The septuagenarian leader has provided his permanent address as Prabhat Lodge, Shimla, and his educational background is also in Shimla. He owns a house in Gurugram as well. As per the affidavit, Sharma’s highest qualification is law degree, which he completed in 1977.
