Dharamshala (Tapovan): The Congress government’s spending on media, encompassing electronic media, social media, hoardings, newspapers, and other platforms, has reached a staggering 4,55,58,154 rupees, as per data presented in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on December 20, 2023.

The revelation came in response to a question posed by Randhir Shamra, BJP MLA from Naina Devi, from the concerned minister that is Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu himself during the assembly session. The specific inquiry, numbered 1070, sought details on the amount spent on publicity across various mediums.

“How much money has been spent by the current government on publicity till November 15, 2023” was the question asked by the BJP MLA.

Interestingly, Congress party leaders were observed criticizing the previous BJP government for excessive spending on publicity. Even within the Congress ranks, there were admissions that hefty loans were taken during the last year of their government to secure election victories.

This disclosure of substantial expenditure by the Congress government on media raises questions about fiscal responsibility and allocation of resources, prompting further scrutiny from political observers and the public alike.
