Dalhousie:

A special cleanliness drive was organised on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) in Dalhousie by the Chamba District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in collaboration with Hilldari Dalhousie. The drive covered the stretch from Youth Hostel-Dalhousie to the main bus stand, aiming to promote awareness about hygiene, environmental care and civic responsibility.

The event coincided with the ongoing “Yuva Aapda Mitra” training camp being conducted by DDMA at the Youth Hostel. Around 40 to 50 trainee students voluntarily participated in the campaign, contributing their time and effort to keep the hill town clean.

The drive was flagged off by Youth Hostel manager Devendra Sharma, who encouraged the participants to take active roles in maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural beauty of Dalhousie. He also spoke about the importance of environmental protection and the role of youth in community service.

During the campaign, participants collected nearly 60 kg of waste along the roadside, including plastic litter and other non-biodegradable material. The collected waste was later handed over to the local municipal team for proper disposal.

Officials from DDMA-Chamba said the initiative was part of a broader effort to engage young citizens in disaster preparedness and environmental stewardship. “Clean surroundings contribute to healthier communities and reflect responsible citizenship,” one official said.

The cleanliness campaign not only highlighted the importance of sustainable waste management but also strengthened the message that youth participation is vital for building a cleaner and safer Himachal Pradesh.
