Calling it a significant step for environmental protection and public convenience, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today formally inaugurated the e-cart service introduced by the Chamba Municipal Council.

Flagging off the service from Millennium Gate, the Speaker told media representatives that the initiative will not only help reduce pollution in the town but also contribute to maintaining a clean and green environment. He emphasized that the service promotes eco-friendly transportation and provides accessible mobility for residents.

The e-cart will operate between the Medical College and Bharmour Chowk, with a nominal fare of just ₹10. Pathania highlighted that the service will especially benefit senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and those facing daily commuting challenges.

Commending the Municipal Council and district administration, he said such public welfare initiatives give new direction to development. He further noted that the state government has been working for the past three years to strengthen the economic condition of unemployed youth. Under the e-vehicle scheme, young entrepreneurs are being provided vehicles at nearly 50% subsidy, creating local employment opportunities and improving livelihoods.

Expressing confidence in the scheme’s future expansion, Pathania said it will empower more youth and promote self-reliance across the state.

The event was attended by Sadar MLA Neeraj Nayyar, his wife Bharti Nayyar, District Agricultural Produce and Marketing Committee Chairman Lalit Thakur, District Congress Committee President Surjit Bharmouri, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh Saklani, Senior Executive Officer Rakhi Kaushal, and other departmental officials.
