In a significant organizational move under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan and Rahul Gandhi’s vision of empowering youth, the All India Congress Committee late Friday night announced the appointment of district presidents across 11 districts of Himachal Pradesh. Among them, young advocate Surjeet Bharmauri has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Chamba District Congress.
A resident of Salli Panchayat (Aura) in the tribal Bharmour constituency, Bharmauri has long been associated with the Congress organization. He has previously held key positions in the NSUI and party structures across Himachal Pradesh and other states, and is known to be a close associate of Rahul Gandhi.
Coming from a humble family background, Bharmauri’s rise through dedication and hard work marks a historic moment, as he becomes the first leader from Bharmour to serve as Chamba District Congress President.
His appointment has stirred political activity in the region, with celebrations and congratulatory messages flooding social media. Locals describe his elevation as bringing “warmth in Bharmour’s freezing winter,” while political circles speculate on the new energy his leadership may bring.
Speaking to The News Radar, Bharmauri expressed gratitude to the Congress high command and national leadership for their trust. He credited the love and support of the people of his region, along with the blessings of local deities, for his success.
“I will work tirelessly to strengthen the Chamba District Congress organization. Special priority will be given to young party workers so that they can move forward with new direction, new energy, and new ideas,” Bharmauri said.
