Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today held a dialogue with BPL families identified through the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department’s survey at Ambedkar Bhawan, Chuwari.
Pathania emphasized that the state government’s priority is to ensure welfare schemes reach the genuinely needy families living below the poverty line. He noted that the BPL selection process has been made transparent and effective through an eight-phase survey, ensuring only deserving families are included.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the government is committed to social security and welfare, aiming to support families deprived of housing, education, healthcare, pensions, and other basic facilities due to economic hardship.
Acknowledging past complaints of ineligible families being included in BPL lists while genuine families were excluded, Pathania said the new survey ensures fairness and transparency. He added that cases of deserving families left out can still be considered if they meet eligibility criteria.
The Speaker urged beneficiaries to actively connect with government welfare schemes and assured them of the government’s dedication to public welfare beyond political lines. He also listened to people’s problems during the programme, resolving many on the spot.
Earlier, SDM Manish Soni welcomed the Speaker and presented details of the BPL selection process and welfare schemes. BDO Anil Gurada also shared key information about Bhatiyat block.
The event saw participation from officials including Chela Krishan Chand (State Forest Corporation Board Member), Vijay Kanwar (Block Congress Committee President), Surender Chadak (Vice President, Nagar Panchayat), Dr. Shamlal (Block Medical Officer), Pankaj Rathour (Executive Engineer), Rakesh Thakur, Narendra Chaudhary, Aarti Devi (Tehsil Welfare Officer), and Dharmveer (Child Development Project Officer), along with Panchayati Raj representatives.
Beneficiaries from multiple Gram Panchayats including Nainikhad, Balera, Tunuhatti, Kakira-Jarei, Kakira-Kasba, Kharera, Gadana, Ghatasni, Chalama, Taragarh, Kuddi, Avanh, Hobar, Jatrun, Parchhod, Sadhal, Banet, Raipur, Jandroag, Turkda, Parsiyara, Malunda, Kahri, Gahar, and Kudnu attended the dialogue programme.
