Bhatiyat to be Developed as an Education Hub; Skill University to Open in Sihunta

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania attended the annual prize distribution ceremony at Government College Sihunta as chief guest, where he inaugurated the event with a lamp-lighting ceremony and honored meritorious students for their achievements.
Extending best wishes to the students, Pathania announced that Bhatiyat region will be developed into an education hub with high-quality academic facilities. He revealed that a Skill University will be established in Sihunta, with extension centers planned across Chamba district depending on land availability.
He assured that a Science faculty will be introduced at the college, and the post of Associate Professor (Music – Vocal) will be filled soon. He further stated that the next annual prize distribution ceremony will be held in the college’s own building.
Development Commitments
Pathania emphasized that effective implementation of development projects requires strong planning, clear strategy, and honest intent. He highlighted that unprecedented momentum has been given to development works in Bhatiyat constituency, with projects now being completed on priority.
He mentioned that over ₹204.53 crore has been allocated in the past three years for roads and other projects in Sihunta and surrounding gram panchayats, including the Dramman–Sihunta–Lahdu double-lane road and the college campus itself. He also assured early commencement of the Sukhiyar–Bagga road, while works on Dehar Khad–Kalyana road and surveys for other link roads are progressing.
Pathania underlined the strategic importance of the proposed Dramman–Sihunta–Lahdu–Chamba–Tissa–Killar highway, stating he would meet the Prime Minister if necessary to secure its approval.
Encouragement for Culture and Students
To promote cultural activities, Pathania announced ₹31,000 in funding. He awarded ₹11,000 each to students Aditya Bhardwaj and Palak for their outstanding cultural performances.
Principal Dr. Arvind Kumar presented the annual report, while students showcased vibrant cultural programs in Pahari, Hindi, and Punjabi.
The event was attended by senior officials and dignitaries including Chela Krishan Chand Chela (Member, State Forest Corporation Board), SDM Manish Soni, DFO Rajnish Mahajan, BDO Anil Gurada, Tehsildar Surender Kumar, engineers from PWD, electricity and water departments, along with students, parents, and local residents.
