The Chamba district police have launched a special campaign to tackle rising concerns among villagers over the influx of migrants from other states. Many of these individuals reportedly move from village to village on motorcycles without number plates or valid documents, creating an atmosphere of fear in rural areas.

Under the campaign, police teams are stopping such two-wheelers at multiple checkpoints. Vehicles found without proper papers or registration plates are being seized, with challans issued and bonds registered against them. So far, dozens of motorcycles have been impounded.

DSP Headquarters Baldev Datt explained that vehicles without documents or plates are difficult to trace, which increases the risk of crime. He emphasized that strict enforcement is necessary to ensure public safety.

The DSP also appealed to residents of Chamba district:

  • If any migrants from outside states are staying in homes without police verification, citizens should immediately inform the police.
  • This will allow proper checks and help maintain law and order.

The campaign reflects the district police’s zero-tolerance approach toward unregistered vehicles and unverified residents, aiming to strengthen security across Chamba.
