Senior BJP spokesperson Trilok Kapoor launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, calling its planned December 11 rally a “shameless celebration of three years of governance collapse.” He said the event reflects the state’s misfortune and exposes the Congress’s disregard for public welfare.
HRTC Crisis Deepens Amid Rally Preparations
Kapoor accused the government of pushing the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) into financial ruin. With losses exceeding ₹2,200 crore and over ₹500 crore in pending payments to 9,000 pensioners, he said the corporation is struggling to pay medical bills and accident compensations. “Despite a monthly deficit of ₹70 crore, the government is diverting 1,500 buses for its political spectacle,” he alleged.
Public Transport Disruption on December 11
The BJP claims that nearly half of Himachal’s bus routes will be disrupted on December 11 due to the rally, leaving thousands of commuters — including students, workers, and patients — stranded. Kapoor warned that pre-booked online tickets will be rendered useless, causing financial and logistical chaos. “Who will compensate the public for this disruption?” he asked.
Misuse of Government Machinery and Pressure on Beneficiaries
Kapoor further alleged that Congress ministers are pressuring welfare scheme beneficiaries to attend the rally, acting as regional in-charges to inflate attendance. “This is a blatant misuse of government machinery and an insult to democratic values,” he said, accusing the Congress of coercive tactics and authoritarian behavior.
BJP Demands Cancellation of Bus Bookings and Public Apology
The BJP has demanded the immediate cancellation of the 1,500 bus bookings and urged the government to redirect the funds toward pending dues for pensioners, medical reimbursements, and accident victims. “This is not a time for celebration but for introspection and financial accountability,” Kapoor said.
He concluded by stating that the issue transcends HRTC and affects every citizen whose rights are being trampled under Congress’s hollow propaganda. The BJP will oppose this decision both on the streets and in the Assembly.
