Dharamshala: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for two rallies featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Himachal Pradesh, ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls.
While one rally is set for Mandi, the location for the second is still under discussion. Simultaneously, the Congress party plans to hold election rallies featuring former national president Rahul Gandhi, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, and party’s Himachal in charge Rajeev Shukla.
Mandi is emerging as a much talked about parliamentary seat, with BJP nominating actress Kangana Ranaut to contest and Congress fielding PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
The notification for the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh is expected on May 7, followed by intensified campaigning for both Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls. BJP leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP national president J P Nadda will also conduct election rallies in the state.
Opposition leader Jairam Thakur shared this information informally with journalists in Shimla on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh Congress is also gearing up for rallies, with the primary focus on Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for the upcoming elections.
