Dharamshala: Jitendra Singh Pathania, the BJP mandal president for Nurpur, voiced apprehensions regarding the one-year governance of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s administration.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, Pathania raised pertinent issues and shed light on the challenging state of affairs in Nurpur.

He pointed out the critical condition of Nurpur’s hospital, revealing that machinery meant for the hospital had to be transported to Una. Pathania expressed discontent over the transformation claimed by the government, highlighting that despite the talk of systemic changes, the reality on the ground in Nurpur has worsened.

The Chakki Bridge, a vital infrastructure link, has been closed for 22 months. Despite numerous representations, the government’s response has been lackluster. Pathania asserted that the importance of the Chakki Bridge cannot be overstated and warned that if it is not reopened by January 25, a peaceful protest will be staged on January 26.

Discussing the local governance issues, Pathania highlighted the delayed payments to contractors working in the Public Works Department. He noted the disparity where Congress-backed contractors were receiving their dues while those aligned with other political affiliations were facing payment delays.

Nurpur, a town facing these challenges, witnesses a purported “transformation” that is not resonating with the locals. A stray cow shelter, supposedly addressing the issue of stray cattle on the roads, is grappling with its own set of problems. The proposed flyover in Jasur Bazaar is progressing at a snail’s pace, raising eyebrows within the community.
