Dharamshala: Congress party’s treasurer and senior leader, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP, accusing them of neglecting the expansion of the Pathankot-Jogindernagar railway line. Dr. Sharma asserted that not even an inch of progress has been made on the railway line since the British era, and the BJP’s claims of development in the railway sector remain unfulfilled.

In a press statement issued here, Dr. Sharma highlighted the deteriorating connectivity in Kangra, Chamba, and Mandi due to the stagnation in railway development. He emphasized that improved railway connectivity could facilitate the easy transportation of essential goods, leading to lower prices and accessibility for the people.

Dr. Sharma predicted that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would reveal the public’s dissatisfaction with the BJP. Despite having two MPs from Kangra in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the region has witnessed little progress. He urged the government to focus on concrete development rather than making grand claims.

Commending the state government’s efforts in addressing rural issues, Dr. Sharma praised the initiatives that directly reach the people in villages, ensuring justice at their doorstep. He acknowledged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu’s declaration to develop Kangra as a tourism hub and expressed hope for tangible results.

While the BJP engages in political maneuvers around the Ram Mandir issue, Dr. Sharma emphasized the Congress party’s respect for all deities, highlighting Chief Minister Sukkhu’s decision to install Lord Ram’s idol alongside Lord Hanuman at the Jakhoo Temple in Shimla.

He said that Union Minister Anurag Thakur’s constituency was in focus for developement in comparison to Kangra where Kishan Kapoor has literally failed to bring any major project that appealed masses.
