The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has taken two major decisions with far-reaching impact. First, individuals convicted of involvement in chitta (synthetic drug) trafficking will be barred from contesting Panchayat elections. The move is aimed at keeping local governance free from the influence of drug offenders and strengthening the fight against narcotics in the state.
In another significant step, the Cabinet approved the absorption of Vidya Upasaks into the cadre of Junior Basic Teachers (JBT). This decision is expected to provide long-awaited relief and recognition to Vidya Upasaks, ensuring better career progression and stability in the education sector.
Both measures reflect the government’s intent to safeguard society from the menace of drugs while also addressing long-pending demands in the teaching community.
