Dharamshala: An initiative has been launched to encourage higher voter turnout at 11 polling booths in Dharamshala under the SVEEP programme.
As part of the voter awareness campaign within the Dharamshala constituency, efforts are being made to raise awareness among the electorate in booths with historically lower voter turnout percentages, in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Sanjeev Kumar Bhot, SDM Dharamshala, mentioned that efforts are focused on increasing voter participation in booths where turnout was low during previous elections.
A team engaged with voters at booth 11, Chilghari, and conducted discussions with local residents, in collaboration with local BLOs and other stakeholders on Wednesday. The team appealed to voters to participate actively in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled for June 1, and stressed the importance of exercising their voting rights responsibly. Special attention is being given to mobilizing voters in booths where voter turnout has historically been low, under the Mission 414 initiative by the Election Commission.
Nodal officer Dr Amit Katoch, along with Dr Joginder Singh, Mithun Kumar Datta, Rekha Rawat, and Vilas Hans, emphasized the importance of civic responsibility and urged all citizens to utilize their voting rights. They provided detailed information about the voting process and urged voters to ensure their names are listed correctly in the voter list. Those not listed were encouraged to fill out Form 6 through BLOs or the voter helpline. Voters pledged to actively participate in this celebration of democracy and promised to spread awareness about voting among their communities.
