Event Held in Memory of Shaheed Rifleman Ramesh Kumar

Palampur– Palampur MLA Ashish Butail inaugurated a three-day Volleyball and Kabaddi tournament at Rakh (Nagri), organized annually in honor of Shaheed Rifleman Ramesh Kumar. The event, hosted by Shiv Bhoomi Club at the Rakh Holi Mela Ground, saw enthusiastic participation from 16 teams.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Butail highlighted the vital role of sports in promoting physical fitness and mental well-being, encouraging youth to actively engage in athletic activities.
Responding to the organizing committee’s requests, Butail announced a grant of ₹13 lakh for the development of the sports ground and an additional ₹2 lakh for establishing a gym. He assured that work on both projects would begin shortly.
In a further development, Butail shared that under the NABARD scheme, construction of the Gamarota–Balanan–Garh–Ardi road will commence soon, with an estimated budget of ₹13.80 crore.
The event was graced by Pradhan Anuj, along with officials, departmental employees, and other distinguished guests, marking a spirited start to the tournament and a heartfelt tribute to a local hero.
