Road accidents continue to claim lives in Himachal Pradesh. After a private bus met with an accident early this morning today in Chamba district, another tragic incident was reported from Kullu district, where a car crash resulted in the death of three tourists.
According to official information, the accident occurred on the Chandigarh–Manali National Highway near Babeli, around 10 kilometres before Kullu town. A car carrying six tourists from Delhi, who were travelling towards Manali, met with the accident near the gate of the ITBP centre at Babeli. The vehicle reportedly rammed into a roadside pole and a parapet after the driver lost control.
Three occupants of the car died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Sonia (40), Sakshi (26), and Devisha (5). The remaining three passengers — Sachin, Sahil, and Anika — sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to the Regional Hospital, Kullu, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.
The exact cause of the accident has not been ascertained so far. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information, registered a case, and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
The victims were reportedly on a leisure trip to Manali. The back-to-back road accidents have once again raised serious concerns over road safety on the state’s national highways, particularly amid increasing tourist movement.
