The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Garnota was held today with great enthusiasm under the chairmanship of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker, Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Pathania congratulated the students on their achievements and assured full support in ensuring the availability of all essential resources at the school. He lauded the school administration for upholding high standards of quality education.

In his speech, the Speaker highlighted ongoing development projects in the Bhattiyat Assembly constituency. He announced that the feasibility report for the proposed Chamba-Chowari tunnel has been completed. Plans are underway to secure funding for the tunnel through a central agency or an outsourced institution.

He also raised concerns about the disproportionate revenue sharing by central hydroelectric companies operating in the state, stating that while they generate significant income from Himachal’s natural resources, the state is not receiving its fair share from the central government.

Shri Pathania reaffirmed his commitment to the holistic development of Bhattiyat. He announced that construction of a power substation at Kakroti Ghatta will commence soon. He also emphasized his resolve to connect every village in the constituency with road infrastructure, noting that work on over 35 road projects initiated in the past two years is nearing completion and will be inaugurated shortly.

Further, he shared plans to introduce new vocational courses at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Garnota.

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Speaker. Students presented vibrant cultural performances that captivated the audience. To encourage cultural activities, Shri Pathania announced a grant of ₹31,000 for senior students and ₹11,000 for juniors. He also felicitated meritorious students for their outstanding academic performance.

The Speaker received a warm welcome from the school management committee and local residents.
