Seeks waiver of flight cancellation, rescheduling charges
DHARAMSHALA: In the wake of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, airlines across the country are stepping up efforts to ensure the safe and timely evacuation of stranded tourists from Kashmir.
The unexpected surge in demand for flights from Srinagar has prompted the authorities to request airlines to increase the number of flights and maintain uninterrupted connectivity to various destinations across India.
Recognising the challenges faced by tourists, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation has written to various airlines urging them to waive cancellation and rescheduling fees.
In the letter, Director General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai said the measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on travellers and provide them with necessary support to return home safely.
Additionally, airlines are being encouraged to offer assistance to tourists navigating unforeseen circumstances. The incident, which has deeply impacted the Kashmir region, underscores the importance of swift and coordinated action to address the needs of affected individuals.
