UNA: Following the recent expose of fake degrees held by a dozen ex-servicemen, including a school principal in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, the Una District Education Department has put 12 teachers under scrutiny over their certificates.
Among the 12 teachers under investigation, eight are responsible for teaching students from Class I to VIII, while the remaining four work in senior secondary schools. A number of these teachers teach physical education. To establish the authenticity of their degrees, the certificates have been forwarded to the respective universities for verification and the report is expected within a week.
In response to these revelations, the heads of all seven education blocks in the state have been directed to review the qualifications of teachers employed in local schools. Any suspicious cases are to be reported to the District Education Department without delay. During this investigation, doubts have arisen regarding the credentials of 12 teachers.
It has come to light that all these teachers acquired their degrees from universities outside the state. The authorities have started communication with these universities to ascertain the degrees they have been awarding. Local teacher unions have demanded a thorough investigation into cases involving fake degrees.
Devendra Chandel, Deputy Director of the District Elementary and Higher Education Department, stated, “The truth will come out soon.”
