Dharamshala: Vivek Singh, Chancellor of Arni University, had officially reported receiving threatening calls from the local administration a day before he was attacked. In a letter addressed to Nipun Jindal (IAS), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kangra, dated December 30, Singh expressed concern, noting that this wasn’t the first time he had received such calls.
The DC, Nipun Jindal, swiftly responded to Singh’s complaint, instructing the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Indora to investigate and respond. The attack on Singh took place on the night of January 1, 2024, post his communication with the DC.
Singh’s letter lamented the unfortunate situation where powerful government officers, responsible for maintaining law and order, were allegedly involved in subtle threats. The complaint highlighted interference in the internal matters of the university by these officials.
The letter also shed light on the miscreants (non teaching staff) for whom administration was seeking employment, entering the university with weapons, consuming alcohol, and disrupting the peaceful environment housing around 300 students in the hostel.
This revelation raises serious concerns about the potential abuse of power by government officials, compromising the principles of law and order they are entrusted to uphold.
