The state has witnessed 42 incidents of cloudbursts and 82 cases of landslides, which have severely damaged 2,719 homes, 481 shops and 3,192 cowsheds. The ongoing rain and landslides have disrupted life across districts, particularly in Chamba, where fresh tragedies unfolded on Wednesday.

Kullu-Lahaul still cut off, restoration underway

After three days of continuous rain, weather in Kullu and Lahaul improved on Wednesday. Restoration work has begun on Kullu-Manali National Highway (NH-3) and power and water services. However, Manali and Lahaul valleys remain cut off from the rest of the country. Over 100 major and rural roads in the district are still blocked.

The Kullu-Aleu Left Bank road has been partially reopened for small vehicles, while the main highway from Kullu to Manali remains a major challenge to restore. The ongoing crisis has also halted apple harvesting, with fruit markets lying deserted for the fourth consecutive day.
