2300 Crore Sanctioned for 1500 Roads in Himachal Pradesh under PMGSY-4

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced that under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-4, 1500 roads across Himachal Pradesh have been sanctioned with an investment of ₹2300 crore.

Key Highlights

  • Chamba District: 65 roads sanctioned with ₹553.68 crore
  • Dalhousie Constituency: 7 roads sanctioned with ₹56.44 crore
  • Bharmour Constituency: 29 roads sanctioned with ₹290.19 crore
  • Bhatiyat Constituency: 12 roads sanctioned with ₹104.74 crore
  • Chamba Constituency: 14 roads sanctioned with ₹81.24 crore
  • Churah Constituency: 3 roads sanctioned with ₹21.07 crore

In total, 327 km of new roads will be constructed in Chamba district under PMGSY-4.

Local Development

At a public gathering in Gram Panchayat Tappar, Singh performed the foundation ceremony for the Chakhar–Sherpur road upgradation project, costing ₹7 crore. This road will benefit nearly 1200 residents of Tappar.

He also highlighted ongoing projects:

  • PMGSY-3: 17 roads under construction with ₹188 crore
  • CRIF: 3 roads with ₹70 crore
  • NABARD: 12 roads with ₹107 crore

Together, ₹370 crore is being spent on road construction in Chamba, in addition to the new PMGSY-4 allocation.

Minister’s Statement

Singh emphasized that providing road connectivity to remote and sparsely populated villages is the state government’s top priority, ensuring inclusive development in difficult terrains.

Earlier in Dalhousie, he also released the Dalhousie Master Plan booklet and inspected damaged stretches of National Highway 154A, directing officials for urgent repairs.

Community Response

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local representatives and residents. Former Education Minister Asha Kumari welcomed Singh and expressed gratitude for the sanctioning of 7 roads in Dalhousie under PMGSY-4. She also raised demands for a Sherpur–Simi bridge and bus permits on the Chakhar–Sherpur route, which Singh assured would be addressed step by step.
