KANGRA:
In a tragic roadside accident near the Baglamukhi temple on NH-503, a speeding truck loaded with iron rods ploughed into two friends who had pulled over for a Maggi break on Wednesday (December 10, 2025). The crash, reported at Seera Da Bharo near Dehra in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, killed one youth on the spot while the other suffered grievous injuries.

The two men, travelling from Jalandhar toward Kangra for work, had stopped at a small eatery and ordered Maggi and tea. According to stall owner Surinder, the youths were waiting next to the kiosk when the truck suddenly veered toward them. “I had just poured water into the pan when the truck came at high speed and hit them. Even the stall was smashed,” he said.

The impact was so severe that the kiosk was dragged along. The truck driver allegedly fled after the crash and parked the vehicle nearly a kilometre away. The stall owner chased him on his scooter and tracked the vehicle down, claiming the driver appeared to be drunk.

Emergency ambulance 108 reached the spot soon after. The injured youth, Karan Jassi (25) of Abbadhpura in Jalandhar, was rushed to the Dehra Civil Hospital by locals. The second youth, Kaishab Chaudhary (21) of Green Valley, Pohariwala, was found lying unconscious at the site and was declared dead by doctors.

The accused driver, identified as Kuldeep, son of Kaher Singh from Paddar (Salooni), Chamba, was also taken to the hospital. He has denied causing the accident, claiming another vehicle was responsible and that blood was already on the road when he passed.

Locals, however, blame the growing number of unauthorised kiosks and haphazard roadside parking for repeated accidents along the stretch. They say lack of enforcement on NH-503 has made the area increasingly dangerous. The police from Rani Tal outpost reached the site and began an investigation.

The truck has been seized and a case is being registered under relevant sections at Haripur police station.
Dehra SP Mayank Chaudhary confirmed the incident, stating that all aspects of the crash are being probed and legal action would follow as per procedure.
