In a heart-wrenching road accident in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh, two brothers lost their lives when their car plunged into a deep gorge late on Tuesday (November 26, 2024). The incident occurred near Thalatar on the Kharshali-Gadsari road in the Chirgaon area, leaving the local community in shock.
According to Chirgaon SHO Amit Sharma, the accident took place when the Alto car carrying the victims went out of control and fell into a 100-metre-deep gorge.
Siblings killed on spot
Both occupants, identified as Shanta Kumar (32) and Roshan Nath (37), died on the spot. The victims, who were siblings, were residents of Rohru.
The police reached the accident site immediately upon receiving information. One body was retrieved quickly, but recovering the second body proved to be a challenging task due to the steep terrain. With the help of local residents, the police managed to bring the second body out of the gorge.
SHO Amit Sharma said, “Two persons have died in the road accident in Chirgaon. The police team is investigating the cause of the accident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.”
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area as the victims were well-known locals.
