11-year-old Himachal ‘wonder girl’ from Palampur becomes youngest in country to pass CBSE Class 10 exam

MANDI/Palampur: Kashvi, a gifted girl from Palampur, has created history by becoming the youngest student in India to pass the CBSE Class 10 examination at an age of just 11 years.
With an impressive 91% score, she is now officially the first student in the country under the CBSE board to achieve this milestone at such a young age.

Born on March 12, 2014, Kashvi exhibited exceptional cognitive abilities from a very early age. By the time she was three years old, she had already memorised the names and locations of all Indian states, Union Territories, neighbouring countries, details about the solar system and other general knowledge topics that most children learn much later.

Academic excellence came to fore during Covid

In the CBSE Class 10 results, Kashvi achieved 89 marks in English, 93 in Mathematics, 88 Hindi, 92 Science and 82 in Social Science.
She is currently enrolled in Class 11 (Non-Medical stream) and is continuing her academic journey under regular school education.

Kashvi’s extraordinary learning abilities came into sharp focus during the COVID-19 lockdown. While staying at home, she completed not only the entire Class 3 curriculum, but also self-studied and finished Class 4 and 5 syllabus. Her accelerated progress continued post-lockdown.

Parents approached court for age relaxation for Class 8 exams

At the age of 7, Kashvi expressed her desire to take the Class 8 board exam, but the existing rules required a minimum age of 12 years to do so. Her parents approached the court, following which a special academic panel was formed to evaluate her capability. Upon successfully clearing the evaluation, she was granted permission to appear for the Class 8 exams.

At just 9 years of age, Kashvi passed Class 8 with 91.6% marks, setting yet another benchmark in early education.

IQ Score: 154 – A genius certified

In 2021, at the request of her family, Kashvi underwent the Binet-Kamat Intelligence Test (BKT) at the Regional Hospital in Dharamshala. Though she was just 7 years old, the test revealed an IQ score of 154, equivalent to the mental age of a 13-year-old.

This places her well beyond the “gifted” category into the realm of genius. An IQ score of 147 or above is considered exceptionally rare and is typically seen in fewer than 0.1% of the global population. Albert Einstein’s estimated IQ is believed to have been in a similar range.
