DHARAMSHALA: The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh is learnt to have mobilised around 1,000 buses to ferry supporters for the party rally at the Police Ground in Dharamshala on Monday (December 11, 2023) to mark the completion of one year in power.
The demand for 800 buses was sent to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation by various deputy commissioners, the highest being from Kangra, Hamirpur and Una districts.
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and state affairs in-charge Rajiv Shukla will be present at the function. The programme of national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is yet to be confirmed. Several oter big leaders, including Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, have also been invited.
Apart from Chief Minister Sukhu, 125 chairs have been placed on the stage where there will be seating arrangements for cabinet ministers and others. Arrangements have been made to seat more than 25,000 people. All ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and Congress MLAs will also be part of the ceremony. The local block unit will also welcome all party workers passing through Nadaun, the home constituency of Chief Minister Sukhu.
Most of the senior officials of the state government have already reached Dharamshala while Chief Minister Sukhu will reach from Shimla on Sunday. All ministers have also been asked to reach Dharamshala by Sunday afternoon.
The Chief Minister will pay tributes to martyrs at the Martyrs Memorial in Dharamshala on Monday morning. After paying tributes, a procession will be taken out from the memorial to Police Ground. Workers from every assembly constituency of the state will be included in the function.
