Like traditional cigarettes, the use of e-cigarettes is also dangerous. There is a risk of a heart attack for those using e-cigarettes.

This has been revealed in a joint study by Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Gorakhpur, Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences Lucknow and State Hershey Medical Center USA.

Dr Ishita Gupta from Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda participated in this study. This research paper has been published in the International Journal of Cardiology.

According to this research, with widespread awareness of the harmful effects of traditional smoking, many people are using e-cigarettes, which are not entirely harmless and their use can disrupt the functioning of the heart, which can lead to a heart attack. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted for related studies. Relevant articles related to this were searched.

For this investigation was done through five databases. Data was collected on 5,85,306 individuals in this entire study. A total of four studies were included in its analysis. Of these, 19,435 were e-cigarette users, while 1693 only used traditional cigarettes. 5,53,095 non-e-cigarette users joined it.

Seven percent of e-cigarette users suffered a myocardial infarction (MI), compared to 7.7 percent and 6.5 percent of traditional smokers and non-e-cigarette users, respectively. E-cigarette users were also found to have half the risk.
