Bharmour — With the aim of ensuring a clean and ecologically safe pilgrimage route, Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, Mukesh Repeshwal, inaugurated the ‘Swachh Manimahesh Abhiyan’ at Hadsar, launching a multi-agency initiative to rid the Manimahesh Yatra path of legacy waste.
This special campaign, which will run until July 30, seeks to remove approximately 15 tonnes of garbage scattered from Hadsar village to the sacred Manimahesh Lake. Repeshwal emphasized that the plan hinges on active public participation, including the involvement of local Panchayats, environmental NGOs, spiritual organizations, and devotees.
A comprehensive waste disposal mechanism has also been put in place to manage the collected debris. Speaking to volunteers and officials, the DC called for heightened awareness around the ecological sensitivity of the region, urging pilgrims to uphold both religious reverence and environmental responsibility during the annual yatra.
At the flag-off ceremony, ADM Bharmour Kulbir Rana presented Repeshwal with a symbolic memento—a photograph of the revered Manimahesh Kailash. The event witnessed participation from SP Chamba Abhishek Yadav, SDM Bharmour Abhishek Mittal, BDO Ramnavir Singh, departmental officers, NSS students of Government College Bharmour, and groups like Healing Himalaya and Dhauladhar Cleaners.
Later, DC Repeshwal conducted an inspection from Hadsar to Dunali to assess on-ground arrangements for the Manimahesh Yatra 2025. The inspection included checks on security, health services, water supply, rest areas, toilet facilities, and waste management systems. SP Yadav joined the site visit to ensure coordinated readiness.
