‘Bigg Boss’ fame Pavitra Punia too accompanies him
Mandi/Sundernagar (Munish Sood)
Union Minister of Food Processing Industries and Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan visited Sundernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday to express his condolences on the demise of Rajendra Soni, father of his close friend Neeraj Soni.
Paswan attended the Pagri ceremony, a traditional ritual performed after a father’s passing, and participated in all the associated customs.
Paswan, an MP from Bihar who shares a deep personal bond with Neeraj Soni, became emotional upon meeting him. He embraced his grieving friend and broke down in tears, mourning the loss as his own.
Says felt like losing his father again
Speaking at the ceremony, Chirag Paswan recalled the pain of losing his own father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, and shared that he could deeply relate to Neeraj Soni’s sorrow.
“I feel as if I have lost my father once again. The pain of losing a father is something I understand very well because I have gone through it myself. My father was always concerned about me and constantly checked on my well-being. His absence is deeply felt,” he said.
Reflecting on the Pagri Ceremony, Paswan added:
“No son wears his father’s turban while he is alive, but after his passing, it becomes a tradition that must be followed. I, too, have fulfilled this social custom.”
He extended his support to the grieving family, encouraging them to stay strong during this difficult time.
Visit kept under wraps; came in morning, left by afternoon
Chirag Paswan’s visit was kept completely confidential, with no prior announcement. He arrived in Sundernagar at 9 am and returned to Delhi by 3 pm. The Pagri ceremony was a private affair, attended only by close family members.

Neeraj Soni and his wife Chandni Soni are Mumbai-based producers known for their work in the digital entertainment industry.
They have produced several hit web series, including ‘Raktanchal’ and ‘Tandoor’. Chirag Paswan shares a close friendship and family bond with the couple.

Accompanying Chirag Paswan during his visit was ‘Bigg Boss’ fame Pavitra Punia, who also expressed her condolences and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Several other notable figures, including former CPS Sohan Lal Thakur, were present at the ceremony to offer their respects.
