Shimla: To commemorate Earth Day, the Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) hosted ‘Cycling School Programme’ at Auckland House School for Boys in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla.
The event aimed to educate students on cycling as both a hobby and a competitive sport, while emphasising environmental conservation.

The programme featured two main sessions: a theoretical session that enlightened students about the benefits of cycling; and a practical session where students actively participated in competitive events.
The thrilling competitions concluded with the announcement of the top three winners, namely 1) Shashwat; 2) Agney and 3) Agam. The school’s national bronze medallist, Adhirath Walia, was honoured for his achievements.

Principal Ruben John praised the initiative, stating, “Cycling is not just a sport, but a way to foster a sustainable lifestyle. We are committed to incorporating more such programmes to inspire our students to embrace cycling as part of their daily lives.”
Mohit Sood, HASTPA president, said, “Encouraging cycling among young people is crucial for both health and environmental conservation. Our goal is to promote Shimla as a hub for mountain biking and to instil a love for cycling in future generations.”
