Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an unidentified assailant at his Mumbai residence early Thursday (January 16, 2025) morning.
The actor, who is recovering at Lilavati Hospital after surgery, reportedly took the attack on himself to shield his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their children, who were asleep in the house during the assault.
Questions over how attacker entered house
According to the Mumbai Police, the attack occurred around 2.30 am. Strangely, CCTV footage from two hours prior showed no sign of an outsider entering the housing society, raising questions about how the attacker accessed the premises.
Initial investigations suggest the assailant might have been let in by a domestic help, who is currently being interrogated.
The attacker is believed to have hidden inside the house before launching the attack. During the chaos, the intruder was briefly locked in one of the rooms but managed to escape before the authorities arrived.

Saif sustained six stab wounds, with two deep cuts on his back and one dangerously close to his spine. Doctors have confirmed that the 54-year-old actor is stable, and a complete evaluation of his injuries will be conducted post-surgery.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and the children were unharmed but remain deeply shaken.
Authorities suspect theft as the motive behind the attack. Forensic teams and sniffer dogs have been deployed to analyse the crime scene. Investigators are also looking into the background of the domestic help who may have facilitated the intruder’s entry.
A senior police officer stated, “We are examining all angles, including personal vendetta and robbery. The lack of external breach recorded on CCTV is puzzling and will be crucial in piecing together what happened.”
