Dharamshala: At 33, AC Bhardwaj has become a prominent figure in Himachal Pradesh’s music scene, captivating audiences with his unique blend of traditional Pahari sounds and contemporary music.
His rendition of “Kanchi Re Kanchi Re” has garnered significant attention online, reflecting his widespread appeal.
Hailing from Rampur, Himachal Pradesh, Bhardwaj’s journey in music began with his role as an anchor. Transitioning into singing, he has lent his voice to over 40 songs, each echoing the rich cultural tapestry of the Pahari region.
His performances are a staple at national and international festivals in Himachal Pradesh, with state-level fairs often considering his presence indispensable.
In recognition of his contributions to the arts, The Newz Radar honored Bhardwaj during their recent carnival. Suresh Kumar, the marketing and branding head of The Newz Radar, remarked, “I think the finest blend he has created is the fusion of Bollywood and Pahari songs that has appealed to the masses.
Despite his success, Bhardwaj remains a staunch advocate for local artists. He emphasizes the importance of providing platforms for Himachali talent, especially during the state’s numerous festivals.
“I think the ratio should be 50:50 in all fairs of Himachal Pradesh, which means if organizers are calling outside artists, then they should also give equal opportunity to local artists of Himachal Pradesh,” he asserts.
Bhardwaj believes that technology has played a pivotal role in amplifying the reach of Himachali folk music. Through digital platforms, the intricate rhythms and melodies of Pahari culture have transcended regional boundaries, resonating with a global audience.
This surge in popularity has not only rejuvenated interest in traditional art forms but has also positioned Himachali music as a contemporary trend.
