MANDI: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur has alleged that the pivotal roles played by Congress state chief Pratibha Singh and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh in instigating dissent among rebel Congress legislators were noteworthy.
Jai Ram highlighted this during a press conference in Mandi on Sunday (April 7, 2024). He said that following their incitement, both mother and son duo distanced themselves from the ensuing turmoil.
He indicated that a detailed discussion regarding the alleged involvement of Pratibha and Vikramaditya would be undertaken at a later time once their names are finalised from the Mandi seat.
The BJP leader said that Vikramaditya’s credibility was now in question as he was increasingly perceived as “Pal Pal Paltooram”, given his inconsistent positions.
Addressing criticism directed at BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut from the Congress camp on various issues, Jai Ram emphasised that Kangana had already provided clarifications on all the matters.
However, he accused the Congress of persisting in their smear campaign against her. Despite careful consideration, the BJP has chosen to nominate Kangana as a candidate, a move deemed unfavourable to their interests.
Jai Ram warned that continued opposition could prompt a formal complaint to be lodged with the Election Commission.
He also leveled criticism at the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government, noting the alarming trend of legislators defecting while the incumbent MP shying away from contesting elections.
Amidst these developments, Jai Ram urged for accountability, suggesting that the Chief Minister should step down on ethical grounds.
Earlier in the day, Jai Ram formally inaugurated a media centre established by the BJP in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Present at the event were MLAs Anil Sharma and Inder Singh Gandhi, and several BJP leaders, including district president Nihal Chand Sharma.
