Security measures to be strenghtened for border areas: Kangra DC

Dharamshala: Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa announced on Tuesday that security arrangements in border areas will be bolstered, with police maintaining vigilance over all activities.

 

Bairwa inspected police checkpoints and sensitive polling stations in the Indora constituency, assessing preparations for the upcoming Assembly by-elections andLok Sabha elections.

 

Bairwa emphasized the administration’s responsibility to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections, ensuring that all necessary preparations by the police and administration have been completed on time. Despite this, security measures in border areas will be further reinforced.

 

He inspected police checkpoints at Dhangu Peer, Majra, Milwan, Toki, and Bhadrota, along with visits to sensitive polling centers in Lodhwan and Bhadrota. Bairwa also urged local representatives and residents to increase voter awareness and participation in these areas where voter turnout is traditionally low.

 

Additionally, Bairwa inspected stocks at a liquor factory in Raja Khasa and directed proper record-keeping of daily stocks and sales. He also examined a gun factory in the industrial area of Malot.

 

Under the voter awareness campaign, Bairwa participated in a program organized at a local degree college, rewarding participants and encouraging youth to actively participate in the democratic process.

 

Superintendent of police Ashok Ratan, SDM Dr Surendra Thakur, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
