Kangra DC urges youth to play active role in voting

Dharamshala: Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa emphasized the importance of youth participation in voting, stating that it is essential for the strength of democracy.
Speaking at a youth parliament program held on Saturday at the Nehru Youth Center in Nagrota Bagwan he encouraged all youths turning 18 by April 1, 2024, to obtain their voter identification cards, with the deadline for registration set for May 4.
Bairwa highlighted the crucial role of informed youth in shaping the nation’s future and called for their involvement in social service projects and sports alongside education, aiming for holistic development.
Stressing the necessity of events promoting youth personality development, he mentioned the organization of various activities by the Nehru Youth Center to raise awareness among youths. District officer Vivek Kumar welcomed the chief guest and provided detailed information about the program, which saw participation from students of colleges across 15 blocks of Kangra district.
The event also saw the presence of SDM Munish Sharma, college principal Dr S K Soni, and faculty members, along with students from various colleges.
