The BJP on Wednesday organised the Seva Jyoti Yatra and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha at the historic Dhalpur ground in Kullu to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life. BJP MP from Mandi Kangana Ranaut and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur were among the prominent leaders who attended the programme and listened to Prime Minister Modi’s live address.
Addressing the gathering, Jairam Thakur said Modi’s 25-year journey in public service represented an example of dedication, determination and the spirit of “nation first”. He said Modi began his constitutional journey as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and had since continued his public service as Prime Minister.
Thakur said there was a time when some people ridiculed the formation of the BJP, but today an ordinary party worker from the organisation had become the Prime Minister of the country and one of the most influential leaders globally.
He credited Modi’s leadership with what he described as several historic achievements, including the abrogation of Article 370, construction and consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and significant action against terrorism and Left-wing extremism. He also said India had strengthened its position globally, emerged as a major manufacturing destination and risen from the world’s 11th-largest economy in 2014 to the fourth-largest economy.
Thakur said the journey towards a self-reliant and fully developed India was being pursued under the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”. He expressed the hope that the people of India would continue to see Modi leading the country over the next 25 years.
Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, praised Modi’s public life and said the Seva Jyoti Yatra symbolised the commitment to move from “Nation First to Citizen First”. She called upon citizens to contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Ranaut also launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Opposition parties over their protests against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. She rejected allegations of vote theft and EVM manipulation, saying such claims undermined India’s democratic institutions. She further asserted that the BJP had the strength to win elections even without EVMs.
The BJP MP welcomed President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Kullu-Manali, describing the President’s arrival in the Himalayan region and Dev Bhoomi as a matter of pride for local residents and tribal communities.
Ranaut also raised concerns over the slow utilisation of funds allocated from her MP Local Area Development Scheme in Kullu. She said more than ₹10 crore had been allocated, but comparatively little work had reached the ground, and questioned the pace of implementation by the administration.
The programme was attended by former minister Govind Singh Thakur, former MP Maheshwar Singh, MLAs Surendra Shourie, Lokendra Kumar and Deeparaj, BJP district president Amit Sood, co-in-charge Priyanta Sharma, former candidate Narottam Thakur, Akhilesh Kapoor and Zila Parishad chairman Thakur Dass, among other party leaders and workers.
