Nurpur
The indefinite hunger strike launched by Akil Bakshi, Director of the Ranjit Bakshi Jan Kalyan Foundation, demanding the immediate opening of the long‑awaited Mother & Child Hospital in Nurpur, entered its third day today.
Bakshi emphasized that the movement is not against any political party or government, but a collective effort to secure better healthcare facilities for the region. He highlighted that the hospital would serve not only Nurpur but also Jawali, Fatehpur, Indora, and border areas of Chamba district, providing vital services especially to pregnant women, mothers, and newborns.
Residents expressed frustration over the hospital remaining closed for years, calling the hunger strike a necessary step to bring the issue to the forefront of government and administrative attention.
Appealing to the public, Bakshi urged people to rise above political differences and join the cause peacefully:
“This is not about ideology—it is about the health of our mothers, sisters, and future generations.”
He reiterated that a united public voice is essential to ensure the hospital’s early inauguration, stressing that fundamental healthcare needs must take precedence over political divides.
Public Call to Action: Join hands for the region’s healthcare. Support the demand to start Nurpur’s Mother & Child Hospital—an urgent step for mothers, children, and generations to come.
