Himachal Pradesh’s political landscape is witnessing a sharp confrontation between Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma, with the debate now moving towards the question of ‘vendetta politics’.
In an exclusive interview with The Newz Radar, reporter Preeti directly asked Sudhir Sharma whether the ongoing political confrontation between him and Sukhu could itself be seen as an example of political retaliation.
The question assumes significance in the context of former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who had spoken about moving away from politics of political retaliation during his tenure. Sharma, however, accused the Sukhu government of targeting political opponents through FIRs and official action—claims that form part of his political argument against the government.

Sharma responded that while individual political battles would continue, the larger election debate would revolve around Himachal’s financial situation, stalled development, roads, healthcare infrastructure and the government’s unfulfilled promises.
The political confrontation between Sukhu and Sudhir Sharma therefore raises a larger question: will allegations of political retaliation remain a significant part of the opposition’s narrative, or will issues of governance, development and public concerns take centre stage ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections?
