The Newz Radar

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated legal action against Food and Civil Supplies Department Inspector Ram Katoch, currently stationed in Rampur sub-division of Shimla district, for allegedly subletting his official duties and maintaining a prolonged absence from work. There are also allegations that he operated a flour mill in his wife’s name at a village in Ani in Kullu district.

The Vigilance Bureau has formally registered the case against Katoch at the department’s police station in Shimla following complaints received about his questionable conduct. According to the complainants, Katoch systematically hired people to perform his government duty while he remained absent from work. The alleged misconduct enabled him to receive his salary fraudulently without fulfilling the responsibilities associated with his position.

Katoch is accused of unilaterally assigning temporary employees to his office without obtaining approval from senior officers. It is reported that he financed these unauthorised appointments, paying honorariums from his personal funds. During this time, the accused himself kept running a flour mill in his wife’s name. A preliminary investigation conducted by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau substantiated the claims, leading to the formal registration of the fraud case.
