Mandi meeting reviews rural outreach, social awareness initiatives and future action plan

Strengthening grassroots outreach and expanding social awareness activities in rural Himachal Pradesh figured prominently at a meeting of senior functionaries of the Ekal Bharat Abhiyan held in Mandi.
The meeting reviewed the organisation’s ongoing work at the village level, its social and awareness initiatives and the roadmap for further strengthening its presence across rural areas. Functionaries said the organisation is currently reaching around 8,000 villages in Himachal Pradesh, with a focus on education, social awareness, values and greater community participation.
Central Gram Sangathan Pramukh of Ekal Abhiyan Sansar Chand, along with Bhaga Adhyaksh Mandi Pawan Sharma, Bhaga Sangathan Mantri Anil, Anchal Adhyaksh Mandi Roop Lal and Bhaga Gatividhi Pramukh Manohar Lal, participated in the discussions.
A major focus of the meeting was the need to maintain regular interaction with rural communities and ensure that social initiatives reach people at the grassroots. The participants discussed strengthening village-level networks and encouraging greater participation of local communities in programmes aimed at education, awareness, social values and collective responsibility.
The meeting also underlined the importance of taking development and social awareness beyond urban centres and creating stronger community-based initiatives in villages. The functionaries discussed the organisation’s future programmes and ways to make its grassroots activities more effective and sustainable.
Prof. Anupama Singh, who is associated with social and public outreach activities as the state head of the women’s wing of the Akhil Bharat Abhiyan in Himachal Pradesh, said villages remained the fundamental strength of Indian society.
She said stronger social connect and awareness at the grassroots could lay the foundation for a self-reliant, socially conscious and value-based society. According to her, sustained engagement with rural communities was essential for addressing social issues and encouraging people, particularly women and younger generations, to participate actively in community initiatives.
She further stressed the need to strengthen village-level contact in the coming months and involve more people in constructive social activities. She said the larger objective should be to create a stronger sense of social responsibility and take the spirit of nation-building to every section of society.
The discussions also focused on improving coordination among functionaries at different levels so that upcoming programmes could be implemented effectively in rural areas. The participants expressed their commitment to expanding the organisation’s outreach and strengthening its engagement with communities across Himachal Pradesh.
The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere with a positive exchange of views on the organisation’s upcoming programmes and future grassroots activities.
