He noted that Kaudi is played not only in Chamba but also in Shimla and other regions of the state in varied forms, reflecting the diversity of Himachal’s cultural practices.
Government’s Commitment to Traditional Games
The Education Minister assured that the government is committed to supporting and promoting traditional sports. He praised the Kaudi Sports Association for its efforts in reviving the game and congratulated its president, Dr. Sanjeev Suri, along with the entire team, for organizing such a large-scale competition.
He announced a grant of ₹52,000 from his discretionary fund to the association to aid the successful conduct of the event.

This year’s competition has marked a historic milestone, with 128 teams and over 700 players from Chamba district participating. Minister Thakur noted that this is the largest district-level Kaudi competition ever organized in the history of the International Minjar Fair.
