Under the state government’s directives, Nurpur Police launched Phase-II of the ‘Anti-Chitta Campaign’, intensifying its crackdown on drug abuse and strengthening public awareness initiatives.
Joint teams comprising police, administration, and health officials carried out special checks in major markets and rural areas, ensuring strict compliance with the COTPA Act. Legal action was taken against violators, and shopkeepers were clearly instructed that selling tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions is strictly prohibited. They were also warned that selling cigarettes or bidis to minors is a serious criminal offense.
At the panchayat level, awareness meetings were organized where local representatives and youth were engaged in direct discussions about the harmful effects of narcotics. Villagers were encouraged to remain vigilant about suspicious activities and guide young people towards positive paths.
Nurpur Police has appealed to the public to actively participate in this campaign and promptly report any illegal activities. Authorities assured that the identity of informants will be kept completely confidential.
