Panchayat Committee member Kumari Sarika has urged the Bharmour–Pangi MLA to replace the high-voltage overhead electricity line running through Bharmaur market with underground armored cables. She submitted a memorandum requesting budgetary provisions and administrative approval for the project.
The memorandum highlights that the existing high-voltage line passes directly over several houses and commercial buildings, posing a serious safety risk to traders, residents, and the thousands of people who visit the market daily. During heavy rain, snowfall, strong winds, or technical faults, the risk of a major accident remains high, potentially causing severe loss of life and property.
Sarika emphasized that Bharmaur market is a densely populated and busy area, making underground armored cabling the safest and most permanent solution. She noted that such a step would significantly reduce the chances of accidents and ensure public safety.
She appealed to the MLA to prioritize public interest and safety by approving the necessary budget, granting administrative clearance, and directing the electricity department to take swift action. Sarika expressed confidence that a positive decision will be taken soon on this important public issue.
