BJP District Kangra General Secretary Devinder Kohli has strongly criticized the police for registering cases against BJP councillors, workers, and office bearers following protests held ahead of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation oath-taking ceremony.

Kohli termed the action “unfortunate” and asserted that protest is a fundamental right in a democracy. He accused the Congress government of suppressing public voices instead of respecting sentiments. “The effigy burning was a symbolic protest, fully legitimate in a democracy,” he said, questioning whether opposing anti-people policies had now been made a crime.

He further remarked, “Is the government trying to impose an Emergency-like situation in Himachal?” Kohli assured that the BJP stands firmly with its workers “like a rock” and will continue to raise issues of public interest. He demanded that the government stop repressive measures and focus instead on resolving people’s problems.
