In a major step against drug trafficking, the STF Kangra team arrested three individuals with 16.66 grams of heroin (chitta) in Raja Ka Bagh area under Police District Nurpur. The arrests were made near the Himfed warehouse on National Highway following a tip‑off during routine patrolling.
Incident Details: On June 9, 2026, police intercepted three suspects and recovered heroin concealed inside a cigarette box kept in their bag.
Accused Identified as:
- Shamsher Singh alias Chunna (36), son of Mohinder Singh, resident of Kandwal, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
- Gaurav Samkaria alias Goru (26), son of Ishwar Singh, resident of Thehar village, Post Office Kukher, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
- Mandeep Singh alias Goldy (35), son of Major Singh, resident of House No. 136, East Park, Guru Ramdas Avenue, Sher Singh Colony, Jalandhar, Punjab.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 147/2026 at Police Station Nurpur under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. The seized contraband has been sealed and taken into police custody, with all legal formalities completed on the spot.
Next Steps: All three accused are in custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and uncover additional links in the network.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensify action against drug trafficking and ensure strict enforcement of the NDPS Act in the district.
