Senior BJP leader, former Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, and former Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar has raised alarm over the deteriorating state of cardiology services at Tanda Medical College and Hospital.

Parmar expressed deep concern that such a vital department, serving lakhs of people across the region, is being run with only one doctor. He described the situation as “unfortunate and alarming,” stressing that the shortage of specialists is putting patients’ lives at risk.

According to Parmar, the lack of adequate staff means that critical heart patients are not receiving timely treatment. He warned that overburdening a single doctor is not only unjust to the medical system but also endangers patient safety. Emergency cases, he said, are particularly difficult to handle, forcing patients to either wait for long hours or be referred elsewhere, losing precious time in the process.

Parmar has urged the state government to immediately appoint more cardiologists at Tanda Hospital to ensure timely and quality care. He cautioned that failure to act swiftly could lead to a major health crisis, for which the government would bear full responsibility.
