Dharamshala: In anticipation of the New Year celebrations, the picturesque town of Dharamshala is bracing itself for increased footfall. The district police in McLeod Ganj have intensified security and traffic management arrangements for the upcoming New Year events.
The district police, in collaboration with the Hotel and Restaurant Association, Taxi Union, Tibetan Union, and Business Association, have strategized security and traffic plans for the festivities scheduled in six sectors of McLeod Ganj. Three reserve forces will be deployed on the night of December 31 to ensure the smooth conduct of the programs.
To manage traffic effectively, various traffic slots have been designated on December 30, 31, and January 1. Notably, the route from Gandhi Chowk in Dharamshala to the left will be exclusively for tourists, facilitating their bypass to McLeod Ganj. Restrictions will be in place, prohibiting any tempo traveler or large vehicle from using the Danda Marg route.
Local residents have been urged to park responsibly on the streets, and police reserves will be stationed to oversee traffic and law enforcement. Additionally, the police have requested the cooperation of locals and unions in reporting any potential illegal activities or unauthorized events, promising swift action in collaboration with the community for a safe and enjoyable New Year celebration.
